The Truth Project’s Juneteenth Events primary purpose is to build community awareness around the Juneteenth Celebration. Proceeds raised will Fund Truth Project’s educational and historical initiatives. Most of The Truth Project’s Juneteenth events are free or open to the public to attend.
Join us in the month of June for our celebration of “Juenteenth”! The Connecticut General Assembly designated ‘the Saturday closest to June 19th, annually, as Juneteenth Independence Day, in recognition of the formal emancipation of enslaved African-American pursuant to General Order No. 3rd of June 19, 1865, in Galveston, Texas.”

Date: June 13, 2009 9:30 a.m. A salute honoring Connecticut’s 29th colored Regiment of 1863. 10:30 a.m. Opening Ceremonies will take place on the steps of the State Capital. Participants include Simpson Waverly Color Guard Team, AI Prince Step Team & African American History
Academy and Gospel Group TBA (Open to public)
